I even got a job there after I graduated from university in 2008, just so I could get staff discount (I lasted 6 months and 6 huge credit card bills). Even though it's the height of summer, this gloomy English rain makes it the perfect time to look at the new A/W'10 collection. I LOVE it all.

I am so obsessed with American singer Lissie that today (when I was supposed to be working) I bought the last ticket to her show at the London ICA... LITERALLY the last ticket, not caring that I'd be going alone. If you buy one album this year get Catch a Tiger. If you download one song from ITunes get 'When I'm Alone.' I came across a fair few amazing items when I was gift hunting for my other half before our six year anniversary on 4th June. One thing I will say is that I'm glad Urban Outfitters has branched out into strange, retro framed animal portraiture. I don't know how I lived without them. I also love the realistic photography avec carefully chosen chairs.

Sally Mann's 1992 series 'Immediate Family' caused an uproar in America when it was released. Through the book documenting her three children (some naked) she was accused of child pornography. The controversy seemed to blow over quite quickly, not least when Time Magazine named her America's best photographer in 2001. I am having a moment of love for Sally, and I think her children look cool. What do you reckon?

I recently found a black cropped jacket with a shearling collar when I was helping my flatmate spring clean her room, that I had to borrow immediately. It's just got warm enough in London to ditch the warm full length coat, and I'm fully taking advantage of the weather with some messy layering, just like this wicked girl. Coincidentally the aforementioned flatmate is in the habit of wearing her cardigan as a scarf when she's cold, which would create the same great wtf? effect as above.

I love looking at other peoples' houses and decorative choices, and keep a file of photos for when I buy my own home. The American magazine Architectural Digest has some of the very best homes - fully conceptualized design schemes, but without pretension, frills or gaudiness. It's obvious that everything in these images is of the highest quality, but the natural fibres and quirky touches make each home - rather than a stale museum of style - entirely comfortable. The first set is my favourite, but for me happiness will always be an armchair next to the bedroom window (like the one I am currently typing from in my rented flat - thanks landlords!)

I had my hair cut yesterday, not at my usual amazing Soho guy but at a 'trendy' chain in Fulham... which is basically the diagonal opposite side of London to where I live and work. Needless to say it was at a very discounted rate, and although it's a technically good hair cut, he really didn't understand my vibe. I always wash my hair and then sleep on it so it's as messy as possible, and absolutely never use any product. It is currently poker straight and way too shiny. My hairdresser didn't chat to me, at all, and the music was mainly funky remixes of Justin Timberlake songs. It was generally just a very weird experience. On the plus side, I don't have any short pouffy layers, a sticky out fringe or a chin length bob... so my quest for mermaid hair (a la Jane and Brigit above) continues.

I was just having a look at The Selby website, as you do, and noticed that he is bringing out a book. I love his photographs, but don't look at his site that often because to be honest I'm a bit too lazy to click through the hundreds of images. I always balk in the face of too much choice. Needless to say I'm really excited about this book- I got the Sartorialist book for Christmas (I'm sure I wasn't the only one) which is equally lovely, and much nicer to flick through than the website. It has been snowing here in London on and off for about a month. The whole city/country has gone mental, but since I can walk to work and never need to get public transport, my biggest problem is trying to stay warm. So far I have been utilizing layers, but three cardigans and two pairs of tights under my jeans every day is neither exciting nor attractive. I am also doomed to wear my squeaky All Saints military boots every single day, and can't even remember wearing the impractical, holey, peep toe sandals that seem to make up 80% of my shoe selection. Boo. Facehunter was kind enough to show me this photo of a girl looking lovely whilst keeping warm (in Scandinavia, where it is roughly 10 degrees colder than it is here). If she can do it, so can I.

Now I've been in two minds about whether to write this post, in case this amazing piece of leather sells out before I have saved enough to buy it, but I just had to show the one item I absolutely need to own this year. It reminds me of the Luella flower bag from A/W '09, which I was equally obsessed with last year and stared at daily when I was interning there. It's the perfect neutral colour to take from Winter into Spring, and for a designer bag is really quite versatile. Unfortunately for me I have just spent the entire cost of the bag on a security deposit for my new flat, and so will have to wait a few months before investing. I really, really hope it's still around! I LOVE it! (this must be the most gushing post in the history of the blog).

The irony is that I've actually grown to hate shopping. I haven't seen anything I really like for at least 4 months, besides this bag, and the fur lined ankle boots I bought earlier that make me look like a goth ice skater. Considering the cost, this is probably a good thing...

I have been so terrible at updating the blog lately, but life, job, moving house and an insane amount of travelling over the festive period definitely got in the way. Little Dragon - Twice (Aaron Jerome Remix)

I posted a few months ago about the Jeff Koons exhibition at Versailles... and now the French artist Xavier Veilhan has taken over. I like it for all the same reasons I liked Koons - blablah modern art juxtaposed with classical architecture etc. The main reason I posted these photos is because they were taken by Todd Selby (The Selby), who always perfectly captures the vibe of his subjects. Listen to the Little Dragon song I've posted above, they're a sweet Swedish band that have been around for a couple of years. I'm in a bit of a grump so won't elaborate further.

Going straight to the top of my Christmas wishlist is this ltd edition winking cat Shironeko Holga camera by Superheadz. It also meows and has flashing lights, which Urban Outfitters tells me is sure to make everyone look in the right direction when I take the picture. I always look to Keller for an effortless display of quirk and individuality. My first post on them (in July 08) still stands up as an example of original design. I wouldn't necessarily wear many of the clothes above - although the last dress is kind of awesome in a schoolgirl, pinafore sort of way - but I do love the creative direction on the shoot, which is by far one of the most interesting lookbooks I've ever seen.

My musician boyfriend was recently called into the offices of Karla Otto (one of the fiercest fashion PR agencies in the world) to select some gifts from COS. Yes, he is a very lucky boy, and came back with some amazing stuff (unfortunately un-stealable) that is currently sitting in a huge swag bag at the foot of my bed.

Anyone who knows me will realize that this is one of my dream scenarios, but I swallowed my jealousy and remembered that my cousin (who designs their window concepts) promised me clothes as payment for my babysitting skills for their newborn. Also I get paid on Monday and have already bought most of my Christmas presents, so I think it might be time to treat myself to the wedge boots above that I've been obsessed with for months. I don't even usually like wedges! I am rarely so in love with an entire collection of clothes that I can afford (for those who don't know, COS is H&M's older sister brand).

This collection from Reem is a dream accessories rack for me. For as long as I can remember I have been vigorously searching for OTT Tom Binnsesque jewellery that doesn't cost the earth. Apart from my friend Amee's amazing Topshop necklace (now broken, and I'm still mourning), I haven't even come close. You can imagine my excitement at discovering the existence of the Tom Binns/Alice in Wonderland collection, at least as excited as one can be who has yet to discover when it comes out, where it is stocked or even really what the pieces look like. HOPEFULLY in time for Christmas, says the girl who knows her boyfriend scans her blog for gift ideas? (edit: a small amount of research tells me that it arrives at the same time as the film in 2010, it's a collaboration with Disney Couture, and that prices start at $50) Unfortunately for me I believe the necklaces above were made for the Reem catwalk show, which does not help me price or availability wise. I'm not sure where this Wendy Bevan shoot was held, but considering that it was for an '07 edition of the Financial Times' "How to Spend It' supplement, I imagine it to be in some secret, lofty bank vault in the heart of the pre-bust City of London. I am loving the classical, age charred architecture, complimented by the sculptural styling, even down to the model's cheekbones. The fourth photograph is perfect.

Another dreamy set from one of my top 5 photographers, whom I first profiled in July 2008 when I had approximately 5 readers.

In other news, in the week between my old shop job and my new lifestyle PR job (which I started yesterday) I went to three exhibitions in three days (Anish Kapoor at the Royal Academy, Exquisite Bodies at the Wellcome Trust and a mixed bag of a group one down an alley and up a dodgy staircase near Brick Lane) and was generally a busy bee and girl about town, so I have absolutely loooads to share over the next couple of weeks. I am also love love LOVING The XX, and can't stop listening to their album. Have linked above, listen or miss out on an aural treat.

I know I say this about practically every photographer I post, but this time I mean it more than all the others. I am absolutely in love with Wendy Bevan's photography. She's based in London and has worked for Lula (naturally), Muse and 10. I first posted her photography back here in May, and my obsession has slowly grown. You can expect to see many more Wendy posts from me because I couldn't help totally cramming my inspiration folder with her shots.

Nick Knight seems to be absolutely everywhere at the moment. Obviously he's a legendary British photographer, but I can hardly see a shoot I like in a magazine without it being one of his. Constantly challenging conventional ideas of beauty, Knight's work has been exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery, the Hayward Gallery and The Tate Modern, amongst others.
